Dedicated to My Students

I don't really have time to write an entry today, because so many of you have called me in a panic over the research paper due this week about which you haven't even begun to think. Well, before we get into an argument, I want to show you something I got from the folks at Quizilla.

Grammar God!
You are a GRAMMAR GOD!

If your mission in life is not already to preserve the English tongue, it should be.
Congratulations and thank you!

Yeah, that's right. Your master of information, The Internet, has deemed that I am a Grammar God. So, when I edit your paper, don't fight me, okay.

You should also give me the benefit of the doubt on other matters concerning your papers, too. I know that surfing the 'net from home is easy. But I assure you that your professor would be much more impressed if your history paper was based on some information you gathered from books. Yes, books are heavy. Yes, library books often contain other people's detritus. Old history books rarely have Flash animation. I feel your pain, really. You could consult scholarly journals. Journal articles tend to be shorter, and are therefore very convenient for the student who is pressed for time.

I recognize that you have managed to get through almost two semesters without setting foot in the library. Do not, whatever you do, go up to the reference desk and ask the librarian, "Where the history books are at?" Librarians are mean and snobby and will definitely laugh at you, perhaps even to your face. They will then run to the computer and update their blogs based on some silly thing thing you unwittingly said. Trust me. I know these people.

No, HBO's Iron Jawed Angels is not a historical document.

Oh, and you're fooling no one with that 14pt font.
